Letter Qq - Quilt
We enjoyed reading the story "The Quilt" by Tony Johnson. Friends shared that some of them also have quilts that were made for them by special people, often relatives and family friends. After reading the story about Abigails quilt, students were given the task of designing their own unique quilt. Their quilts are made up of unique squares that reflect their likes, special places and important people.

My Community - Map
In Social Studies we had big conversations about the word "community". As individuals we are part of many communities. Our first community is typically our family, then our school and other groups we are part of. We started talking about our physical community of Calgary and the neighbourhoods we live in. Kindergarten friends brain stormed important features of a community which they added to their community map. Next we will be exploring the role of community helpers, the people who work in our communities.
