January 6th - 10th

      This Week in Kindergarten 

Welcome back! I hope everyone had an enjoyable winter break with many memories made. It was nice to get back into routines this week. 

           .  

We welcomed the return to school and the new calendar year with stories, art and writing. We read the story "Squirrel's New Years Resolution". We talked about what resolution (personal goal) students would like to achieve this year. We painted fireworks to honour some of the traditions people have around the beginning of the new year. There were so many beautiful bursts of colour! 

                Grade 3 Buddies 

 

We spent Friday morning with our Buddy class, Mrs. Jackson's Grade 3 friends. Buddies engaged in a math and drawing activity. They rolled dice to create a variety of different looking monsters. Some friends noticed how many times they rolled the same body parts, "I rolled 2 three time, so I have 3 monsters with  the same mouth!"

                This Week in Kindergarten                      Literacy Literacy is everywhere in Kindergarten! Our morning soft entry activities range from 'Book Look' to 'Printing Practice'. Entry activities give students a familiar task to engage in as they arrive at school. These are tasks they can complete independently and give them a chance to connect with peers at the same time.               Numeracy- Patterns  Kindergarten friends have continued their work with patterns. We have worked on identifying, creating and extending simple and increasingly more complex patterns.
