This Week in Kindergarten

                   Literacy
            Letter Oo & Dd

We love reading stories that highlight the letters we are learning about. One of our favourite weekly traditions is reading the AlphaTales book in search of the items that have the letter of the week hidden within.

              Numeracy

Dice Games have so many benefits for Kindergarten friends...

Math Skills: Dice games help kids develop basic math concepts, like counting, addition, and sometimes subtraction. Rolling dice and adding up the numbers helps them practice these skills in a fun, hands-on way

Number Recognition: When kids are familiar with the numbers on the dice, it boosts their ability to recognize numerals quickly and associate them with their corresponding quantity.

Fine Motor Skills: Rolling and handling dice helps improve fine motor coordination, as it involves small hand movements that require precision.

Turn-Taking & Social Skills: Dice games are often played in groups, which encourages turn-taking, patience, and good sportsmanship. These social skills are important for kids as they learn how to play together and share.

Ask your child about the dice game Tug-of-War we played this week!

Performing Arts

Calgary Philharmonic Quartet

Movie Music — Greatest Hits

We were so thrilled to have a string quartet from Calgary Philharmonic perform for Ramsay School staff and students this week. They had students dancing and singing along to all their favourite movie hits — from Disney favourites like Frozen and The Lion King, to family classics like Ghostbusters and Batman!
Ask your child...
What was their favourite song ?
Can they name an instrument the musicians played?
How did the music make them feel?
