This Week in Kindergarten

The Gingerbread Man
We had a Gingerbread Man show up in our classroom after Ms.Cavanaugh read the story on Monday. We spent time asking the Gingerbread Man questions and talking about what makes a good question. Some question might start with words like , "do" , "can", "how" , "where", "who"or "why". Ask your child what question they asked the Gingerbread Man.
We will continue reading variations of the story this coming week and discuss similarities and differences between them!
Nutmeg, the Gingerbread Man, asked us to draw him some Gingerbread houses so that he had a place to stay. Students used their creativitiy and imagination to create a wonderful Gingerbread Village for our friend Nutmeg.
Numeracy
Kindergarten friends put their pattern knowledge to work during a week long engagement with pattern focused centres.
Ask your child to make you a pattern with 2 or 3 parts!
Can they read their pattern?
Can they identify the core?
Are they able to tell you that patterns repeat and do not change?
