This Week in Kindergarten Numeracy
Kindergarten students voted on their prefered eyes, nose and mouth for our classroom pumpkin. We learned about tally marks as a way of recording number. We say this poem "1,2,3,4, number 5 shuts the door"
After voting was complete, Ms. Cavanaugh carved the pumpkin to match the results with the most votes. Some friends even helped dig out the seeds and pulp!

Persuasive Writing
After reading the story Stumpkin by Lucy Cummins, students created their own jack-o-lanters using sharpie markers and watercolour pencil crayons as their artist tools. Students then had to describe why someone should wish to choose their pumpkin as the one to take home for Halloween.Next week in Kindergarten:
