 This Week in Kindergarten     Numeracy 
  Sorting by Shape and Size 




In our recent lessons on sorting objects by shape and size, students engaged in a variety of learning activities to deepen their understanding. We watched informative videos that introduced key concepts, which were then reinforced through the co-creation of  anchor charts. Hands-on learning opportunities allowed students to actively sort various objects, providing them with practical experience. This multifaceted approach not only enhanced their comprehension but also encouraged them to demonstrate their learning in creative and interactive ways.

             Story Response  


We start each week off with a story response. We share are story, typically around a seasonal theme or upcoming event. We talk about important language such as "character" and "setting". After reading the story, students are responsible for re-telling a memorable part of the story. They share their re-telling in picture form. Ask your child about the story "The Runaway Pumpkin". 

Please Note: 
Halloween is such an exciting and fun opportunity for students to engage with their imaginative and creative side. Students are welcome to wear their costumes to school on October 31st. Please send student to school in their costume, there won't be an opportunity to change into costumes at school. Please send along a spare set of clothing in the event that your child no longer wants to wear their costume. We will have curriculum connected Halloween activities and an opportunity to parade through the school to show our costumes and see those of other students. Please note that our school has a strict no outdoor food or drink policy. No treats or candy is to be sent to share with others.

        This Week in Kindergarten   Welcome back! I hope everyone had an enjoyable winter break with many memories made. It was nice to get back into routines this week.              .   We welcomed the return to school and the new calendar year with stories, art and writing.   This Week in Kindergarten                     Literacy          Letter Cc has two sounds "hard c" as in "cat" or "soft c" as in city.  Each week students explore letters in a variety away to develop a deeper understanding and knowledge of the formation, name and sound of each letter. One of our entry activities weekly is free choice drawings inspired by our letter of the week. This week we drew cats                  Visual Literacy The Wish Tree by Kyo Maclear is a story about a little boy named Charles wants to find a wish tree. His brother and sister don't believe there is such a thing, but his trusty companion Boggan is ready to join Charles on a journey to find out.                 This Week in Kindergarten                      Literacy Literacy is everywhere in Kindergarten! Our morning soft entry activities range from 'Book Look' to 'Printing Practice'. Entry activities give students a familiar task to engage in as they arrive at school. These are tasks they can complete independently and give them a chance to connect with peers at the same time.               Numeracy- Patterns  Kindergarten friends have continued their work with patterns.
