October 1st- 4th
This Week in Kindergarten
Pre-Printing Practice
The first step toward letter printing and word creating is pre-printing skill development. A major component of pre-writing skills are pre-writing shapes. These are the pencil strokes that most letters, numbers and early drawings are comprised of. They are typically mastered in sequential order, and to an age specific level. These strokes include the following strokes: |, —, O, +, /, square, \, X, and Δ.
Terry Fox Run & Toonies for Terry
We are proud to be participating in the Terry Fox Run on Monday October 7th. AM Kindergarten will be running from 10:15-10:30 along with the our Grade 5/6 classroom neighbours. Students are encourage to bring a "Tonnie for Terry" ($2.00) which will be donated to the Terry Fox Foundation to fund cancer research.
We are looking for pumpkins for our autumn exploration. If you are able to donate a pumpkin, we would be happy to accept it. We would need these pumpkins on or before October 15th. Any size welcome :)
*Reminder: Our classroom is a NUT-FREE environment (this includes peanut butter, trail mix, nut bars ...) . Please be mindful about the snacks and lunches you are packing for your child. We want to ensure that all students have a safe school experience. There are many options to explore if your child favours peanut butter, such as WOW butter & Sun Butter.
