 This Week in Kindergarten

         Autumn Exploration
Fine Motor Practice : Colouring & Cutting

Fine motor skills—those small, precise movements involving the hands and fingers—are crucial for young students. They form the foundation for tasks such as writing, buttoning clothes, and even tying shoelaces. By engaging in activities like cutting and colouring, children enhance their hand-eye coordination, grip strength, and dexterity.

Through this playful yet purposeful activity, we reinforced the importance of fine motor practice in a fun and engaging way. Not only did our autumn tree become a beautiful classroom display, but it also served as a reminder of the critical skills our students are developing—one colourful leaf at a time!

               Numeracy
                          Sorting by Colour & Size

We have been exploring the exciting concept of sorting items by colour! This hands-on activity is not only engaging but also an essential part of our numeracy journey. We began by discussing what sorting means and watched informative videos that showcased different sorting techniques. The students then had hands on opportunities to practice sorting various items by colour. This activity helps develop critical thinking skills and lays the groundwork for future lessons on pattern making.

Next, we will expand our sorting activities to include sorting by shape and size.
